The Minister, William Moorhouse, started in 1804.  The two Deacons, John Carnley and Thomas Briggs,
were local farmers. The first baptism in the register (which covers 17 pages) was of John & Sarah Carnley’s
son, Thomas Carnley, born 20 Sep 1795, baptised 30 Oct 1795 by Dr. Williams.Various visiting Ministers,
including Dr. Williams, performed the baptisms until William Moorhouse’s appointment.
In a note when the books were sent, dated 27 Jan 1837, Moorhouse confirms that the Chapel was licensed
only for baptisms, not marriages or burials.
